Prerequisites for Internship and Mentoring

To qualify for the Internship and Mentoring program you must have a current license to practice independently or have completed course work in an advanced relevant credential: Bachelor, Master or Ph.D. degree for the medical, mental health, education and human development or related fields. Examples of professionals that are qualified include psychiatrists and other MDs, nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation counselors, speech pathologists, psychologists or mental health counselors and other licensed medical professionals. The following fields require a Masters degree: music therapy and counseling education (M.Ed. in counseling). Appropriately credentialed doctors of medicine and dentistry are also accepted. Students with advanced coursework in any of these areas may also qualify.

We do consider all individuals who have related experience on a case by case basis for admission to our program. All unlicensed applicants will need to complete graduate level course work in the following areas: Neurofeedback Ethics, Client-Provider Interactions, Client Assessment, Coordination with Other Health Care Providers, Personality Theory and Introduction to Clinical Psychology. We also consider admission to the program by individuals who are employed full time by a licensed medical, mental health, education or related professional organization.

As part of your program you will be able to complete ten (10) personal Neurofeedback sessions on yourself, as this is also a requirement, and is incorporated into your program.

Schedule and Format

Our pre-registered certified five-day didactic program is designed to prepare you for national certification in EEG Neurotherapy as a Neurofeedback Technician, Neurofeedback Specialist, or Clinical Neurotherapist. These allocations are related to your current credentials and licensure.

The complete program provides 65 hours of instruction: 40 didactic hours and 25 contact mentoring hours, including on-site applied mentoring, didactic instruction, 100 patient/client sessions, and 10 case conference reviews. The program is geared toward fast-track learning with independent but supervised applied practice, once on-site requirements are completed.

The Mentoring and Supervision program requires an application process and can be individually tailored to fulfill your unique career and scheduling needs (you are not required to complete the program on consecutive days).

Getting Started

After reviewing the Didactic Instruction, Mentoring and Supervision program requirements and fees please fax or mail to us in advance of your Admission Interview the following documentation:

1) a letter of interest and intent, 2) copy of your professional license, a copy of your professional liability, OR 3) copies of your transcript and diploma for your most current credential, AND 4) a current resume/CV, PLUS 5) a letter of verification of employment on letterhead from your employer and a copy of your employer’s license where applicable.

Once we have received your documentation please call (703) 536-2690 to schedule your Admission Interview, to be completed at least three weeks in advance of arranged starting date. The interview is billed at our hourly rate, and you may complete the interview with Sajeela Ramsey, MSOD, PhD - IC, BCN, CBS, NTI, OMC or Erik Ramsey APRN, BC, BCN. An interview by phone may be arranged instead if you live out of state or country.

If you come on-site the interview includes a brief tour of the facilities, Q&A, and a review and signing of our Internship and Mentoring Agreement and Confidentiality Covenant (clients you interface with will always be referred to by first name and last initial only, with required confidentiality observed during and outside of all sessions). Finally, you will schedule ahead for completion of required 10 personal Neurofeedback sessions as part of your on-site program.
