Testimonials

"Our son has had seizure activity for nearly twenty years. His most recent EEG showed that there was no seizure activity. The work with the Ramseys' has been the single most important step that we have taken to free our son of epilepsy."

- R. Fowler, Winchester, VA

“I thank the Ramseys sincerely for all you did in helping me get an appropriate diagnosis and plan of symptom management for my long term problems with depression. When I came to you…I was near rock bottom and had been dealing with major disabling depressive episodes for over twelve years and I had been on a myriad of failed attempts to use medications to treat my depression. In addition to the competent and professional Neurotherapy services, you also went a significant “extra steps” in arranging for testing. With the skills and tactics for coping provided by you both, I have been able to live medication and depression free for over four years now…and have been able to carve out a lifestyle of some level of contentment and comfort, with a large amount of the credit for this accomplishment due to the compassion, caring, and professionalism of the Ramseys. I am truly a satisfied former client who will always be grateful for what you did for me.”

- W. Stuart, Reston, VA

" I sleep better, am calmer, feel better about myself, and have made more progress then in five years of talk therapy."

- C.M., Falls Church, VA

"My wife attests that I stopped fighting with her while I am asleep. She said I stopped having nightmares. She also claims I am now calm and non-argumentative. Thank you for the care and treatment of my PTSD symptoms."

- Col. G. Gordon, M.D., Moorwood, N.J.

“I was skeptical at first, but Neurofeedback really works. The Ramseys are experts at using this very innovative technology to solve lots of problems. For me it has really helped calm me in an otherwise very stressful life, and has even lowered my blood pressure. I’m a diabetic, and it has also reduced my blood sugar numbers. I’m a huge fan.”

- L. Rosenblum, Bethesda, MD

"Thank you for your many kindnesses!...Joshua...got accustomed to ...the routine...and I observed a noticeable change in his self-control and impulsivity."

- J.Mitchell, Falls Church, VA

"Our son Brad was at the alternative elementary school needing more and more help, even there. We spent our lives in a constant state of alertness at the next thing that would set him off. It's been a year and a half since he calmed down. The whole family is into neurofeedback; our whole family is different. It's amazing what every day is like without that stress. Brad is doing super at school, and is two grades ahead in math! We are on our way now, when before we could barely face the next day or week. I wish more people would take the leap and try neurofeedback with their kids."

- Sue C., Arlington, VA

"I used to toss and turn every night...The first thing that happened was a full night's rest. I went to sleep so fast I had no idea until I woke up seven hours later. I thought I'd had a dream. Now I know it's reality...I don't worry like I used to."

- M. Goudet, Silver Spring, VA

Case Studies

This area is intended to help you understand more about the progression of Neurofeedback training given a particular condition.

We have selected a handful of representative cases from our files. Each case is categorized by an overarching medical diagnosis*. This serves as a common framework from which to understand a particular set of functional presentations. However, you will find that each case presents as a complex of co-morbid mind-body conditions.

This speaks to the nature of Neurofeedback, where conditions are considered to occur along a continuum, and where ensuing performance issues greatly overlap. Therefore, regardless of medical diagnosis, no presenting condition is considered to be an isolated performance-related issue.

After all, Neurofeedback is a mind-body learning process where both mind and body are investigated so that understandings of such can be used to assist individuals modulate performance concerns related to functional challenges.

You will notice that each of the trainees in these Case Studies responded to training differently. This also speaks to the nature of Neurofeedback; a non-linear process to which no two individuals will respond in exactly the same way or at the same rate.

These anecdotal case studies, along with others comprise a growing body of qualitative and function-driven Neurofeedback research. Neurofeedback provides evidence-based practices on par with health care establishment demands (Gemon, Devon & Ramsey (2000), Sacket et al, (2000), where "Efficacy" determination is derived for various conditions from systematic evaluation in controlled clinical trials (La Vaque et al (2002) in which investigational treatment has been shown to be statistically superior to credible placebo, pill or alternative bona fide treatment in at least two independent researcher settings.

* Please note that Neurofeedback Center of Virginia does not diagnose conditions. Any diagnosis referred to herein is mentioned relative to a case which we were presented with where a medical diagnosis had been previously assigned. Neurofeedback Center of Virginia does not treat any medical, disease or diagnostic conditions. Neurofeedback is a training process for improving performance and reducing stress for individuals who may be struggling with functional challenges.
