Dr. Ramsey, while not a medical doctor or a licensed psychologist, is an Applied Behavioral Scientist and Educator with experience providing performance improvement, stress management, and human learning interventions in clinical and non-clinical settings. She has incorporated an integrative health background (has been working with mind-body interventions since the 1970's) with the applied behavioral sciences and with her current practice, and has been practicing non-clinical Neurofeedback for purposes of relaxation and to reduce stress since 2003.
Dr. Ramsey is certified by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America in EEG biofeedback, by the Natural Therapies Certification Board as a Certified Nuerotherapy Coach and Instructor and a Certified Biofeedback Specialist. She is also certified by EEG Institute in the Othmer Method. She has completed advanced training requirements with industry leaders from EEG Institute, EEG Spectrum, the Southeastern Biofeedback and Neurobehavioral Institute, and Brainmaster. Dr. Ramsey serves on the Allied Professionals Committee at the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.
Dr. Ramsey's credentials include an MS in Organization Development from American University and a PhD in Intercultural Communication from Union Institute and University. Her credentials have prepared her to:
1) use action research to help individuals and groups define and solve human performance problems, 2) create, administer and interpret reliable and valid performance instruments, 3) make a preliminary [non-medical] diagnosis of complex systems problems, collect, analyze and interpret data, feed back data to a client, and 4) plan appropriate interventions that may include training, facilitation, and coaching.
An Applied Behavioral Scientist is trained in multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks that draw from the best of the behavioral sciences, including psychology, human development, planned behavioral change, sociology, verbal and non-verbal communication, cognition, cultural anthropology, and so on. The applied behavioral science disciplines also draw from advanced physics theories, biologically complex systems theories, and learning theories.
As an educator, Dr. Ramsey has taught Organizational Learning and Humanities at graduate and undergraduate levels.
