Erik Ramsey MS, NP

Mr. Ramsey serves as Clinical Director at Neurofeedback Center of Virginia. Mr. Ramsey is a Mental Health Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and therapist specializing in adult, adolescent and pediatric care. Mr. Ramsey is also certified by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance in EEG biofeedback or Neurotherapy. As an NP, Mr. Ramsey is clinically qualified to provide Neurofeedback and Medication Management for all age groups. Licensure can be checked at the Virginia Board of Nursing.

Mr. Ramsey is a distinguished honoree of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, and in 2007 was one of 100 nurses commended for notable and outstanding contributions to the field of Nursing. In 2010 Mr. Ramsey received the ilustrious Nurse of the Year award for his contributions to the the Psychiatric Outpatient Program at Georgetown University Hospital. Mr. Ramsey also participates on the Committee for Psychiatric Research; part of Georgetown University Hospital's prestigious Magnet Hospital status.

Sajeela Ramsey, MS, PhD

Sajeela RamseyDr. Ramsey serves as Chief Scientist at Neurofeedback Center of Virginia. Dr. Ramsey, while not a medical doctor or a licensed psychologist, is an Applied Behavioral Scientist and Educator with experience providing performance improvement, stress management, and human learning interventions in clinical and non-clinical settings. She has incorporated an integrative health background (has been working with mind-body interventions since the 1970's) with the applied behavioral sciences and applied neurosciences, and has been practicing non-clinical Neurofeedback for purposes of relaxation and to reduce stress since 2003.

Dr. Ramsey is certified by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance in EEG biofeedback, by the Natural Therapies Certification Board as a Certified Nuerotherapy Coach and Instructor and a Certified Biofeedback Specialist. She is also certified by EEG Institute in the Othmer Method. She has completed advanced training requirements with industry leaders from EEG Institute, EEG Spectrum, New Mind Center, the Southeastern Biofeedback and Neurobehavioral Institute, Brainmaster and others. In addition, she has logged thousands of hours as a Neurofeedback Instructor, Mentor and Supervisor. Dr. Ramsey also serves as Chairperson of the Allied Professionals Committee at the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback.

Dr. Ramsey's credentials include an MS in Organization Development from American University and a PhD in Intercultural Communication from Union Institute and University. Her credentials have prepared her to:


1) use action research to help individuals and groups define and solve human performance problems, 2) create, administer and interpret reliable and valid performance instruments, 3) make a preliminary [non-medical] diagnosis of complex systems problems, collect, analyze and interpret data, feed back data to a client, and 4) plan appropriate interventions that may include training, facilitation, and coaching.

An Applied Behavioral Scientist is trained in multidisciplinary theoretical frameworks that draw from the best of the behavioral sciences, including psychology, human development, planned behavioral change, sociology, verbal and non-verbal communication, cognition, cultural anthropology, and so on. The applied behavioral science disciplines also draw from advanced physics theories, biologically complex systems theories, and learning theories. Intercultural communication in its most basic form refers to an academic field of study and research that seeks to understand how people from different countries and cultures behave, communicate and perceive the world around them, including Verbal and Nonverbal communication (linguistic and precognitive symbolic behaviors) among people of different cultures.


As an educator, Dr. Ramsey has taught Organizational Learning and Humanities at graduate and undergraduate levels.

Mary Jo Khaler, MS, APRN PMH

Ms. Mary Jo Kahler, APRN/PMH, an ANCC Certified Advance Practice Nurse, is a current Allied Associate and Intern studying at Neurofeedback Center of Virginia. Ms. Kahler has 35 years of experience as a Nurse Psychotherapist. She continues an independent practice in Silver Spring MD while employed at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Geri/Neuropsychiatry.

Gail Kalin, MS, PhD

Dr. Gail Kalin is a licensed clinical Psychologist and a current outsourced Allied Associate at Neurofeedback Center of Virginia. Dr. Kalin has practiced in the DC Metro area since 1992. Dr. Kalin specializes in Hypnotherapy, EMDR, Thought Field or Callahan Technique, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Kalin earned her degree from Brown University.

Rebecca Mohning, MS, RD, LD

Ms. Rebecca Mohning is a current outsourced Allied Associate at Neurofeedback Center of Virginia, providing care in the DC Metro area as a registered Dietitian and certified Personal Trainer. Ms. Mohning specializes in Personal Training and Nutritional Optimization for children, adolescents, and adults. Ms. Mohning's website is  www.ExpertNutrition.net.

Shoshana Shamberg, OTR/L, MS, FAOTA

Ms. Shamberg is a current outsourced Allied Associate at Neurofeedback Center of Virginia, and provides care in the greater DC metro as a licensed Occupational Therapist, FAOTA, Certified Irlen Diagnostician and certified Brain Gym Instructor. Ms. Shamberg specializes in educational programming for students with severe disabilities and people of all ages with learning differences, providing multimodal interventions for clients with light sensitivity and visual distortions.
